Stitched on 28ct. Antique White Jobelan with Crescent Colours and DMC floss.

I finished this up over the weekend. I might have to stitch it again – I don’t think I gave enough thought to the color of the fabric I used – I was out of my Lambswool Jobelan, so I used some Antique White that I had in my stash. Unfortunately, it’s too white, so the fence and the window frames are barely noticeable.

I hope you all had a great weekend. I had a fun weekend, which started off with a trip to House of Stitches, where I spent more money than I’ve done in a *long* time buying stash. DS was with me, and I bribed him with some money to buy a Lego if he promised not to ask if it was time to leave the store. LOL

We saw the new Indiana Jones film. I liked it, although I thought it was a little more far-fetched than the films. I’d seen each of the first three Indiana Jones films when they first came out in the cinema, but DS has only seen them on DVD, so this was his first chance to see one of them on the big screen. He enjoyed it, and spent the rest of the weekend quoting lines (and gestures) from the film.

Thanks again for your feedback on whether to send DS to Australia this summer. Even though I’d made up my mind not to send him, I asked him hypothetically whether he would want to go to Australia, if it meant travelling without me. His answer was a resounding “no”. It wasn’t just the flight – he didn’t want to go there if I didn’t go with him. He’s been on vacation without me before (he goes to Florida for 2 weeks most years with my in-laws), so I was surprised that he would be so insistent that I join him on the trip. I spoke to my parents on the phone this morning, and as I told them, I’m going to see if it’s possible for me to take him next summer.

As promised, I drew a name out of the hat – (okay, it was out of a tin – speaking of which, how do I do one of those automatic name drawing thingies?), and the winner is Anne. Anne, I’ll get something stitched up with week (I bought the supplies on the weekend, but now that I know you are the winner, I might have to change the colors I was planning to stitch – I know what your favorite color is!), and get it in the mail next week.

How cute! I love the white star on the flag and the house.

Instead of re-stitching, you could always add some backstitch to the fence and window panes to make them stand out more… You could use a solid brown color that matched the ligher browns in the roof and tree.

Nice finish, but I see what you mean about the white. Holly’s idea is a good one or maybe you could restitch those areas with a cream or something along those lines?

I asked my soon to be 13 yo son the other day whether he would consider flying by himself (or with his 10.5 yo sister) back to Australia to visit grandparents. He said probably not – domestic from say Adelaide to Melbourne, yes, but internationally, no :)

I hope you can manage some time to go back next summer :)

    Oh, and congratulations to Anne!

That’s so cute Susan!! I like the backstitch idea, or you could make the fence brown like the roof – that might be cute? I like it no matter what though – I definitely want to stitch this one day! :)

    Also…Tag! You’re it! =)

Oh wow! I forgot that there was a prize draw – I would’ve commented either way ;) And you don’t have to go changing the colours just for me – I’d be happy with anything you stitched!! :D The great thing about you coming over to Oz next summer is that there’s a possibility of you meeting an Aussie stitcher or two ;)

Cute finish! I really like the tree and the dog. :)

I’m glad it all worked out for the best on the travel plans for your son Susan. Hopefully you both can travel to Australia next summer. We’re hoping to see the Indian Jones movie this week.

Awesome, Susan!! I realllllly like that. Your stitching is lovely, as usual, just perfect! I really like the hand-dyed floss on the home, it really is pretty. Thanks for sharing! =) I think the backstitch idea is wonderful.

    Hi Susan,
It’s a lovely finish! This is what I want to stitch at the moment, for myself and for my friend who has built the new house!
But I’m thinking if I stitch American flag, it would be funny to hang on in Japanese house? lol
I might to change into Japanese flag, lol
